Book 5: War or Peace (1937-1940)

In Book 5 of The Speedicut Memoirs, Speedicut becomes embroiled in Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain’s policy of ‘appeasement’, which he has been tasked by the Brotherhood of the Sons of Thunder to undermine.

This involves him in a series of adventures in Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland, where he finds himself trapped at the outbreak of the Second World War.

This is followed by Speedicut’s greatest adventure to date: keeping the world’s supply of deuterium oxide (heavy water) out of the hands of the Germans who are advancing on Paris.

The book ends with Speedicut ordered to extract the Duke and Duchess of Windsor from Portugal.
